For two decades Valtelina has been the leading Albanian company in coffee products and services operating in Albania, Kosova, Montenegro, Macedonia (FYROM) and Greece. Seeing their business growing they considered they need an identity that suits their success.
Vatra was challenged to redesign the brand simply and clearly and create an impressive, meaningful advertising campaign. The client maintained that is was important to work in the same line with the previous brand and preserve as much as possible the old identity. Also part of the project was the website design, product design, retail and various ATL services. As they keep growing and having successfully shown their philosophy was right, the image needed bringing up to date to reflect the success of the company and position them for the next years within a competitive market space. The development has to be step by step starting with their image in advertising products and new products they trade. Vatra was appointed to design the packaging of their most recent product; Linea Espresso.
The first identity a “Brazilian’s girl silhouette” had gained reputation and had become the symbol of the brand and consequently that became the basis of our work. However the clip – art that was used was unreasonably detailed and lifeless in color. First of all we sketched the silhouette harmonically inside a rectangular shape. The bold italic typeface was redesigned and incorporated inside the same shape on the bottom of the silhouette. Provoked by the natural colors of the coffee plant we chose green as the brand color. The old slogan of the company, “il caffe … per passione” was redesigned using a handwritten typeface. Inspired from coffee flowers, Vatra turned them into graphics and used them in combination with the slogan in product designs, like posters, brochures, coffee cups etc. These graphics of coffee flowers inspired the advertising campaign. Four professions related with art, the architect, the painter, the musician and the potter, were chosen to express the passion that people feel working or creating and the passion for coffee.
