Bella Confex is one of the largest textile manufacturers in the country and a leading contractor for world-famous companies based in the city of Shkodra in northern Albania. Following a period of continous growth and consolidated business practices, Bella Confex has decided to create their own brands and present their own products to the international market.
Bella Confex assigned Vatra to name and design the brands, to create their packaging and also to redesign the web page. Bella Confex takes pride in the quality of their products and they are determined to tackle the European market focusing on this fact. Vatra was challenged to generate and design brands that express the quality of the product in a refined and esthetically elegant way. At the same time, they needed to be competitive and commercial. The brand name for men’s products had to express the attractive male qualities of power, dynamism, and strength, while elegance, delicacy and sensuality needed to shape the brand identity for women’s products. Another challenge for Vatra was to design brands that communicate easily with the full range of the target audience (man, women, boys and girls).
Naming the brands was a crucial starting point of our work. We needed to generate identities that integrate history and fashion while being contemporary and easy to spell in different languages. After careful consideration we named the men’s underwear brand Plaetor, an Illyrian name used mainly by the tribe of Liburnians. Inspired by legends of strong men and ancient wars we used the Illyrian shield with the snake symbol as the identity of the brand. The red and blue colors of the brand are dynamic and attractive to the eye. The same symbol was used in the packaging design either as pattern or graphic on the background. For the boys’ underwear brand, Plaetor Junior was chosen as a bold, playful and fun typeface. Besides the symbol itself a silhouette of a young boy on a skateboard enriches the packaging design. This image enhances the quality of the product, is appealing to the target audience, and shows that the product is comfortable too. We baptized the female section La Blanche, a French word easy to pronounce that brings to mind freshness and pure beauty. The brand symbol is represented by the dandelion flower, which in combination with the typeface and chosen color symbolizes purity, style, elegance and delicacy, satisfying our client’s request. Simple packaging design on black or white background enhances the high quality of the product. We preserved the same line of work for La Blanche Juvenile brand, expressing freshness, freedom and femininity through graphics and color.
